Warriors rolls to easy sectional victory over Antioch
By Curt Herron
Wheaton Academy entered Tuesday's Class 2A Hampshire Sectional semifinal with a rather simple approach.
And that was to be very aggressive whenever the Warriors got around the net during their match with Antioch.
The game plan clearly worked as Wheaton Academy scored three goals in each half and rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Sequoits.
Tim Daniels scored half of the goals and had an assist while Brandon VanderVeen and Babel Daniel each added a goal and an assist.
As a result, the Warriors (17-4-2) earned themselves a spot in Saturday's 4 p.m. sectional championship match.
They'll meet the winner of Wednesday's semifinal match between Marmion and Lakes. The Warriors beat Marmion 5-4 earlier this year.
It marks the third straight trip to the sectional finals and the sixth appearance in the last eight years for Wheaton Academy.

The Warriors got things started about 15 minutes into the match when Daniels scored off of an assist from Josh Urban.
About 10 minutes after that, the Warriors took a 2-0 advantage when VanderVeen connected, following an assist from Devin Moore.
With less than 10 minutes left before the break, Daniels found the net again, this time off a pass from Babel Daniel.

Wheaton Academy continued its aggressiveness around the goal area in the second half and it resulted in quick dividends.
The Warriors scored for the fourth time about seven minutes into the new half when Trevor Adams connected, off a corner kick from Daniels.
Just over two minutes later, Daniels completed his hat trick after receiving an assist from VanderVeen.
Daniel closed out the scoring just before the midpoint of the final half when he put in a loose ball following a free kick from Alex Varga.
Warrior keeper Philip Oster only had to make four saves against the Sequoits in order to post his team's sixth shutout in the last seven matches as well as its 11th of the season.
Now Wheaton Academy can focus on achieving something that it last pulled off in 2005, which is winning a sectional championship.
And based on the way that they've been playing during the latter part of the season, the Warriors seem to be up to the challenge.
